Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was established in December 1975 at Kean University in New Jersey. In an environment that did not meet the social and personal needs of minority students, particularly women, our seventeen Founding Mothers sought to create their own voice through which minorities could prosper in higher education and be successful.
As the FIRST Latina sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha has a strong history of social change, women's empowerment, and creating a lifelong sisterhood for its members. For over thirty years the sisterhood has expanded coast to coast with undergraduate, graduate, and alumnae chapters throughout the States and in Puerto Rico. Lambda Theta Alpha continues promoting and nurturing the academic, professional, and personal growth of its members.
Empowered by its principles of Unity, Love, and Respect, Lambda Theta Alpha has grown to include 108 undergraduate chapters in over 20 states. Moreover LTA boasts 7 graduate chapters and 12 alumnae chapters from coast to coast, proving that our sisterhood truly does last a lifetime!
